Joint Module

An integrated rotary actuator is a highly integrated unit that combines a servo motor, strain wave gear, encoder, servo drive, brake, and torque sensor into a single unit. It replaces the traditional separate motor+ reducer setup and directly outputs rotary power.

Fully In-House Developed Components for Flexible Adaptation to Customized Requirements

Components support in-house manufacturing by the original manufacturer, along with flexible customization.

Power, reduction ratio, torque, dimensions, and lightweight design are all customizable.

Fully In-House Developed Components for Flexible Adaptation to Customized Requirements Joint Module for Product Overview

AC High Voltage — M Series

The AC High Voltage Series joint module (220V power supply) features a compact design, high precision, and a large hollow bore, simplifying customer selection, design, and manufacturing processes. The product supports BISS-C and TAMAGAWA communication protocols.

DC Low Voltage — L Series

The DC Low Voltage Series joint module (48V power supply) integrates a servo motor, brake, strain wave gear, servo drive, absolute encoder, and other core components. The product supports CANopen, CAN FD, EtherCAT, and Modbus communication protocols.

Self Manufactured Core Powerhouse

Laifual Drive builds the entire powertrain in-house. This vertical integration guarantees synergy across every component. We pair our advanced strain wave gears with high efficiency frameless motors to create a unified system. These motors use high permeability silicon steel and high remanence magnets to maximize torque density.

Thermal stability comes from a specialized epoxy resin potting process applied to the stator. This technique improves heat dissipation and insulation over standard methods. Powered by an innovative servo drive with a 600MHz main frequency, the all in one solution delivers robust processing power and high dynamic

Closed Loop Control and Connectivity

Motion control requires more than mechanical strength. Our system uses advanced closed loop control to maintain precise position. Strong interference immunity, fully passing EMC Level 3 testing.

For connectivity, native support for EtherCAT and CANopen simplifies integration into complex robotic systems. Ultra low static power consumption at 100mA. Wide working voltage range from 2V to 5.5V. High precision control with minimal energy usage.

T Type Joints and Reliable Braking

The new T type joint module design delivers smoother, more precise performance for robotic articulation. Compact structure with a large hollow shaft for simplified cabling.

We use proprietary electromagnetic brake technology with advanced friction plate materials to lower noise and extend component lifespan. Brake coils also benefit from epoxy resin potting for superior thermal management. Reliable structural design that withstands continuous industrial operation with minimal temperature rise.

Getting Started with Laifual Drive

Whether you are replacing an existing actuator, designing a new robot joint, or exploring integrated servo modules for the first time, we make the process straightforward. This section covers how to select the right unit, what to expect from quality and warranty, and how to request custom modifications. Every project starts with a conversation with our engineering team.

How to Select a Joint Module

Tell us about your project and we will recommend the right unit.

Voltage

DC 48V with built in drive for humanoid robots and collaborative arms. AC 220V with external servo drive for heavy industrial applications and CNC equipment.

Torque

Give us your continuous torque and peak torque. Our range covers up to 1530 Nm momentary maximum. We match the size based on your load profile, not just the peak number.

Communication Protocol

L Series: EtherCAT and CANopen built in. M Series: BiSS C and Tamagawa for compatibility with third party servo drivers. Tell us your control architecture and we match the protocol.

Application

Humanoid robot, collaborative arm, CNC spindle, medical device. The application determines which series and form factor we start with.

Send us these specs and our engineers will recommend the right unit.

Every joint module ships fully inspected and tested. 12 month warranty from delivery date or 2,000 operating hours, whichever comes first. Covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance. ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified production lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main difference is the power input and drive integration. The L Series operates on DC 48V and features a built in servo drive supporting EtherCAT and CANopen, making it ideal for humanoid robots and decentralized control. The M Series runs on AC 220V and connects to external servo drives via BiSS C or Tamagawa protocols, designed for high power industrial arms and CNC equipment.
Our DC type actuators (L Series) come standard with EtherCAT and CANopen for plug and play integration into modern automation networks. For the AC type (M Series), we support industry standard feedback protocols like BiSS C and Tamagawa, ensuring compatibility with most third party servo drivers.
Yes. We offer specialized T type joint modules engineered for robotic articulation. These units feature a compact, lightweight T shape design that optimizes joint movement range. Combined with zero backlash harmonic gearing and high torque density, they provide the smooth, precise motion required for 6 axis collaborative robots and humanoid systems.
Our actuators feature a large central hollow shaft. Engineers can route power cables, pneumatic lines, or laser signals directly through the center of the rotation axis. This simplifies wiring management, reduces cable tangling, and protects connections in complex rotating assemblies like indexing tables or robot wrists.
Our product range covers a wide range of torque requirements. The largest models (L170I and M170 Series) deliver a momentary maximum torque of up to 1530 Nm in a compact footprint.
